Driven by Croydon Council in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, the award seeks to establish a standard of excellence within the licensed trade in Croydon.

We want to do this to reduce incidents of crime and disorder associated with the consumption of alcohol in Croydon, particularly crimes of violence.

We also want to assist in promoting Croydon as a safe and professional environment in which to live, work, visit and socialise.

The award focuses on licensed premises and was launched in August 2003. The 2006 awards were launched on January 24th 2006.

The administration process for the awards consists of the completion of a questionnaire, followed by an inspection visit of each premises in order to verify details. All applications reaching a set objective standard will be presented to a high profile panel of judges.
